A Window on Korea to open in Abu Dhabi


(MENAFN- Emirates News Agency (WAM))  A Window on Korea, WOK, is to be opened at Khalifa Park Library on Thursday 18th of December, by the National Library of Korea.

The WOK offers over 1,931 material services such as K-POP, soap operas, movie materials, as well as the history of Korea, cultural, and academic related books. Over the next 5 years, an additional 1,000 materials will be provided.

The opening ceremony will be attended by Kwon Hae-ryong, Korean Ambassador to the UAE, Jumaa Abdulla Al Qubaisi, Director of the Library and Ryu Chung-young, Director-General of the Planning and Training Department of the National Library of Korea.

WOK has been opening establishments in overseas libraries for seven years, providing Korea-related books, non-book materials, space remodeling, bookshelves and computers. It enhances not only an increased understanding of Korean culture and history but also supports Korean studies abroad and boosts its global image at the same time.

The Korean Ambassador said, "In a relationship spanning many decades, the UAE and South Korea have traversed many common areas of interest with mutual respect and cooperation. This event has a great significance to expand the library-related area between our two nations."
