Qatar Joins the Central American Integration System /SICA/


(MENAFN- QNA) The State of Qatar has joined the Central American Integration System (SICA) as an observer member from outside the region, during the preparatory convention for the SICA Foreign Ministers which kicked of in in the Belizean town of Placencia on Tuesday.

HE Qatar's Ambassador to the Republic of El Salvador Abdurrahman Mohammed Al Dosari signed the accession treaty on behalf the State of Qatar with the Secretary-General of SICA Dr. Victoria Marina Velasquez de Aviles on behalf of the organization, in presence of all the ministers of the Organization of Central American States. Belize’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Wilfred Elrington also signed the treaty as a witness.

The SICA Secretary-General welcomed Qatar's accession to the organization and confirmed that this event is a historic moment in the history of the organization because of its positive impact in strengthening and consolidating the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the State of Qatar and the organization member states.

For his part, the Qatari Ambassador expressed Qatar's pleasure to join the SICA as the first observer member from the GCC countries.

He said that the nomination of Qatar reflects the big ambitions of HH the Emir of Qatar Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani and his keenness to promote friendly relations with all countries and international organizations out of Qatar's respect for cultural diversity and the values of peace, freedom, development and international cooperation.
