Bahrain, Russia trade to focus on aluminum, agriculture

(MENAFN) Bahrain and Russia identified the key area to focus on in their efforts to enhance bilateral trades between the two countries, with aluminum, aircraft, chemicals, biotechnology, agriculture and pharmaceuticals chosen as the key areas of mutual investments, Gulf Daily News reported.

Bahrain has been having talks with Russia's Ministry of Industry and Trade about boosting the bilateral trades, with the talks focusing on visa-free travel for businessmen on both sides, and the setting up of a mechanism to activate the Russian-Bahraini Business Council.

Russia said that is interested in getting Bahrain to invest in its agricultural projects, which is an area of mutual interest as the Bahrain government is looking to secure steady food supplies for the country, as well as saying that Russia is very keen on investing in Bahrain's aluminum industry due to its being of high quality.

"The Russian public and private sector enterprises could consider Bahrain as a manufacturing hub and a gateway to the wider GCC region including the bigger markets of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and Kuwait. Raw material and semi-finished products could be shipped to Bahrain, where the end-product can be manufactured, packed and then shipped to the markets," Russia's Minister of Industry and Trade said.
