(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Two senior TDP leaders T Nageswara Rao and T Srinivas Yadav who had recently crossed over to the ruling party were inducted into the cabinet.

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister on Tuesday expanded his 12-member cabinet by inducting six ministers into his team six months after his Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) stormed to power in the new state. Two recent defectors from the opposition Telugu Desam Party (TDP) have been rewarded with cabinet berths.

State Governor ESL Narasimhan administered the oath of office and secrecy to the ministers at a brief ceremony held at Raj Bhavan here.

Two senior TDP leaders T Nageswara Rao and T Srinivas Yadav who had recently crossed over to the ruling party were inducted into the cabinet. Both of them had served in the TDP cabinet of N Chandrababu Naidu in the undivided Andhra Pradesh.

While Yadav quit the party and the Assembly seat just a few hours before the swearing-in ceremony Nageswara Rao had joined TRS in the run-up to the May general elections.

The others who took oath as ministers are A Indrakaran Reddy J Krishna Rao C Laxma Reddy and A Chandulal. Among them Indrakaran Reddy was elected to the Assembly on Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) ticket but crossed over to the TRS a few weeks later.

While Krishna Rao had quit Congress in 2011 to join TRS Chandulal a tribal leader from Warangal district had resigned from TDP in 2005.

With today’s expansion the strength of the cabinet has gone up to 18 the maximum number permitted for the 119-member Assembly. There is not a single woman in the cabinet.

Of late the TRS has been aggressively wooing key leaders and legislators from other parties. The strength of TRS has swelled from 63 to 74 in the 119-member Assembly after a spate of defections.

KCR as the Chief Minister is known in political circles took over the reins of Telangana the 29th state of the country on June 2.
