Pakistani community in Oman expresses shock over Peshawar massacre

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Pakistani community in Oman has strongly condemned the horrific terrorist attack on a school in Peshawar.

The Embassy of Pakistan issued a statement saying 'The Embassy of Pakistan strongly condemns the terrorist attack in the school in Peshawar today in which many precious lives have been lost. It is highly barbaric to shed the blood of innocent people. Terrorists want to create panic and destabilise our country but they would not be allowed to succeed in their evil designs. Pakistan has long been a victim of terrorism but we are united to fight this scourge.'

H E Ayaz Hussain the Ambassador of Pakistan to Oman said 'We express profound grief and shock over the loss of innocent lives in the suicide attack. We sympathise with the bereaved families and pray to Almighty Allah to shower His blessings on the departed souls and grant courage and fortitude to the bereaved families to bear this irreparable loss with patience and equanimity.'

Col Hassan Raza Shah a Pakistani resident in Oman said 'It is a great national tragedy where we have lost a generation. I can only describe this tragedy as an absolutely bizarre inhumane and barbaric act where the terrorists have not spared the most innocent form of humans. There is no religion or country that supports child brutality. We know this is a retaliation from the ongoing Operation Zarb-e-Azb.

He added 'As an ex-army personnel I would hope the concerned authorities have taken extra caution as to bear the repercussions of the operation. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims.'

Ahsan Shazad Haral a marketing professional said 'I am short of words to describe this situation. It is absolutely heart breaking. We can't bring back  the children and their families cannot get back to normal life. My heart goes out to them and people of Pakistan. Our countrymen laid their lives just to pay the price of the difference of opinion society holds.'

He added 'A terrorist act can not be justified by any means. We can do nothing but pray for the victims. We also hope the government tightens its grip on the people who are a shame on humanity.'

Shahzad Ahmed internal auditor at Oman Fisheries Co said 'It is simply horrifying and absolutely barbaric. No one would accept such a thing in a civilised world. I think we can't do anything for the families to compensate for their loss. It is painful to bid farewell to loved ones.'

He said that Pakistan needs to immediately rework its security strategy. 'Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and tribal areas have been a constant target for terrorists. The government should chalk out a comprehensive security plan and instill awareness among citizens against the terrorists.'
