French trade advisors aim to boost economic relations with Oman

(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Oman chapter of French Foreign Trade Advisors (CCEF) is aiming to boost economic relations between France and Oman as its members play an advisory role in helping potential French investors to be successful in their ventures in Oman.

Under the auspices of H E Roland Dubertrand the French Ambassador to the Sultanate CCEF (Conseillers du Commerce Extérieur de la France) held its bi-annual business gathering at Crowne Plaza Muscat on Monday.

The reception was attended by high ranking officials from the government as well as top-executives from the private sector.

'The French Foreign Trade Advisors commit themselves to work for the benefit of France and its partners abroad and assist the French administration in setting its trade policy. They are contributing a lot to the development of the Oman-French bilateral relationship on economic and trade matters' said Sebastien Vincent vice-president of CCEF Oman. He said that there is a huge potential in Oman's tourism industry where France and Oman can cooperate in a big way in the coming years. 'We expect that in the next three to five years many more French companies will come and establish themselves in Oman and support the development of tourism railway and infrastructure. French small and medium companies are increasingly taking interest and looking to the Oman market' Vincent added.

Working closely with the French Trade Commission of the French Embassy CCEF Oman members are looking forward to a very active year ahead. They hope to give a boost to economic relations between France and Oman and also create a French Business Council in the very near future.

In the sultanate CCEF already has 14 leading French businessmen who 'voluntarily advise small and medium-size French companies on starting activities in Oman and assist Omani companies in identifying and developing business with suitable French partners' said Michel Morillon vice-president of CCEF Oman. Morillon added that many large French companies are already involved in various sectors in Oman mainly infrastructure projects and CCEF now plans to assist more and more small and medium sized French companies in setting up joint ventures and operations in various Omani sectors in the coming years.

Comprising more than 3800 French corporate senior executives in 135 countries around the world and active for more than a hundred years CCEF is a network of private business people appointed by the French Prime Minister.

It has shared on a voluntary basis the experience of its members. It provides the French government with recommendations and also supports small companies in expanding internationally. CCEF also plays a valuable role in educating and informing young people about careers in international trade.
