Bahrain, Russia seek to boost trade ties


(MENAFN) Bahrain said that it is seeking to further boost its trade ties with Russia, particularly in infrastructure projects, Gulf Daily News reported.

In order to accomplish, talks were held between the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) and the Russian Federation's Ministry of Trade and Industry, as well as a range of private sector representatives, to discuss ways to increase business collaboration and investment opportunities in a range of sectors, including infrastructure development projects, manufacturing and industry, agriculture, energy and Islamic finance.

During these talk, the Bahraini Ministry of Economy emphasized the importance of Russia's as a trading partner for the Gulf region, being one of the world's leading economies and the wishes of both Bahrain and the GCC to improve the economic ties with Russia, as the bilateral trade between Bahrain and Russia reached USD58 million.

"Bahrain has almost USD30 billion worth of infrastructure projects planned over the coming years, in a number of sectors, including transportation, housing, industry, energy and healthcare, and Russian expertise can no doubt play a vital role in these ambitious programs," Transportation and Telecommunications Minister and EDB acting chief executive said.
