Man is Tasered to Death in Atlanta

(MENAFNEditorial)

The police department in Atlanta Georgia is having to deal with a wrongful death suit. This action was taken by a victim’s family who have named East Point and two cops as the defendants in this lawsuit.

According to the lawyer who is speaking for his clients the victim was initally asked to be questioned regarding a domestic dispute. He refused to answer questions and walked away from the two police officers named Sargent Eberhart and Corporal Weems Jr. This turned into a foot pursuit that eventually ended in the fatality. The attorney has stated that the officers were acting negligently and with a disregard for the fact that bodily harm would be suffered by the man.

The man was handcuffed at the time of his demise and underwent a horrific death in which he was tasered somewhere between ten and fifteen times in less than a half hour time period. The victim left behind his mother and a baby son.

East Point P.D did take action when they fired Corporal Weems and asked Sargent Eberhart to turn in his retirement papers after the incident.

With recent examples such as the Ferguson case coming into light police brutality seems to be a topic on many minds in America. Surviving victims in this area should contact either a civil rights attorney or an Atlanta personal injury attorney. In some cases depending on the details it may be necessary to consult with both. Keep in mind that not every Atlanta personal injury lawyer handles these type of cases.
