UAE- Joint leaders Shabab to take on Jazira today


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Al Shababs 3-0 victory over Fujairah in the eastern region last time out cost the Iraqi coach Abdul Wahab Abdul Qader his job and put Al Shabab on level with Al Wahda at the top of the table.

Dubai — The 12th round of the Arabian Gulf League kicks off with four interesting clashes on Sunday while the remaining three games will be played on Monday at the various venues of the home teams in the seven emirates.



On Sunday Al Wasl host Fujairah at Zabeel Stadium at 4.40pm Sharjah entertain Al Dhafra at the Sharjah Stadium at 7.30pm frontrunners Al Shabab lock horns against Al Jazira at the Maktoum bin Rashid Stadium at 7.30pm and Bani Yas line up against Al Ain at Al Shamkha Stadium at 4.50pm.



Following their 2-2 home draw against city rivals Al Shabab in the ninth round of the tournament Al Wasl went on to win their two subsequent away encounters beating hosts Emirates 3-2 in Ras Al Khaimah and Ajman 2-1 victory at the Rashid bin Saeed Stadium in Ajman.



“We are looking forward to continue this trend when we return to our home ground to make a forward move up the table” said coach Gabriel Calderon.



In the meantime Fujairah have parted ways with their Iraqi coach Abdul Wahab Abdul Qader and sought Ivan Hasek to save the critical situation through which they are passing.



“I have previous experience with Al Wasl when they have brought me to help the club to survive a possible relegation to the lower division and my mission with Fujairah is very similar to that one if not identical” Hasek told newsmen at the Fujairah clubhouse on Friday in his first meeting with the media.



In another clash front runners Al Shabab face an uphill task against Abu Dhabi giants Al Jazira in a crucial tie for both sides.
