House speaker, Greek ambassador discuss ties, region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  Speaker of the Lower House of Parliament Atef Tarawneh met to discuss with Greek Ambassador to Jordan Maria Louisa Marinakis forging closer ties between Jordan and Greece, as well as the latest developments in the Middle East.

Tarawneh spoke about the burden being shouldered by the Kingdom as a result of hosting a large number of Syrian refugees, who are placing increasing pressure on Jordan in the political, social and economic fields.

The meeting also covered the Palestinian issue, the situation in Syria and Iraq and the fight against terrorism.

The speaker thanked Greece for its support of Jordan, as well as its support of Arab issues, particularly the Palestinian issue.

The ambassador praised Jordan's stance on the Palestinian issue and their hosting of Syrian refugees, despite the economic and political challenges facing the country.
