Qatar- Prime Minister Attends Storage Areas Project Launch


(MENAFN- QNA) HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani attended the launching ceremony of the Storage Areas Project at Dana Club this afternoon.

In a speech he gave at the ceremony, HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior said the Storage Areas Project comes under the instructions of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani to the government to enable the private sector, foremost of which being the small and medium-sized companies, to participate more in the national economy in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.

HE Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al-Thani noted that the government acted in the light of these wise directives to support the non-oil sectors through a number of initiatives including the expansion of industrial areas and the increase of storage capacity due to its role in keeping pace with the needs of economic development, to meet the challenges of rising inflation, reduce business costs and maintain the security and health of consumers.

He explained that Storage Area Project comes as a new government initiative in the context of the development of the logistics sector in the country and is a real support for the private sector to be a basic pillar in the way towards the achievement of comprehensive and sustainable development which the State of Qatar aspire for under the leadership of HH the Emir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani who gave directives for the need to strengthen the possibilities for storage and improve its conditions.

HE the Prime Minister and the Minister of Interior said directives for the creation of the Logistics Committee were intended to reduce and eliminate bureaucratic procedures in the implementation of projects, adding " that enabled us within a short period of time to offer plots of lands and create a fair and transparent competition to reach the signing with companies to launch the Storage Areas Project.'' He pointed out the Storage Areas Project, which is expected to be completed within 24 months, will provide storage facilities at a competitive price for small and medium-sized enterprises in terms of size according to international standards, bridge the gap between supply and demand in the storage market, face illegal and unsafe storage offers, contribute to reducing the high increase in the cost of public goods in general because of the availability of storage in reasonable price, provide more employment opportunities and support competitiveness of firms and the national economy in general.

HE the Prime Minister and Minister of Interior witnessed the signing of the construction contracts with the companies which will implement the project.

The ceremony was attended by Their Excellences Sheikhs, ministers and senior officials.
