Climate Change Panel Reaches Agreement at Lima


(MENAFN- QNA) United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) has approved a framework for national pledges at the 20th Conference of Parties (COP 20) meeting held at the General Army Headquarters here Sunday.

Peru's Minister for Environment and President of COP20 Manuel Pulgar-Vidal said delegates have approved a framework for setting national pledges.

The agreement, however, defers details to next summit in Paris next year.

A BCC News report said, environmental groups criticised the deal as a weak and ineffectual compromise, saying it weakened international climate rules.

Members vigorously debated the scale of plans to address global warming because of different viewpoints between rich and poor countries.
