Arab Parliament thanks European parliaments for recognizing Palestine


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) President of the Arab Parliament Ahmad Al-Jarwan welcomed on Saturday the recent motions by the parliaments of Portugal, Ireland, Belgium's Walloon region and the French Senate asking their governments to recognize State of Palestine within pre-June, 1967, borders.

"The successive and nonbinding motions of European parliaments constitute victory for Palestinian diplomacy and the Arab diplomacy at large; this shows a sharp decline in the international popularly of the Zionist entity," Al-Jarwan said in a press release.

"The Arab Parliament, in its capacity as representative of the Arab peoples, is extremely grateful to all parliaments, governments and peoples who support the fair question of Palestine and to the Palestinians' right to establish an independent and sovereign state," he said.

Al-Jarwan reaffirmed the full support of the Arab Parliament to the Palestinian quest for taking the issue of statehood to the UN Security Council and capitalizing on "the honorable stances" of the European parliaments.
