Movie Mania What About Bob (1991)

Bill Murray is on top comedic form in this classic film from director Frank Oz about a pompous psychiatrist and the neurotic patient who follows him on holiday.

New York shrink Dr. Leo Marvin (Dreyfuss) is all set to go on a lengthy family vacation to Lake Winnipesaukee New Hampshire. Just as he’s about to leave however he agrees to meet Bob Wiley (Murray) – an obsessive man with a range of phobias and quirks.

Much to Leo’s surprise Bob follows him to the lake seeking further help – and soon finds himself settling into the town’s leisurely pace of life whilst continually finding new ways to agitate his psychiatrist.

To make matters worse Leo’s wife Fae (Hagerty) and children Siggy (Korsmo) and Anna (Erbe) all take a liking to this oddly agreeable newcomer – setting the two men on a collision course with one another.

Love Connection

We’ve paired A former Saturday Night Live comedian with a UK chart-topping rapper this week.

Abby is going strong – having scored recurring roles in both How I Met Your Mother and Inside Amy Schumer as well as appearing in this year’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles reboot (which despite poor reviews grossed $477 million).

Wretch 32 born Jermaine Sinclair in London has also seen his career soar in recent years – picking up a slew of top 10 singles in his homeland including Unorthodox Blackout and the number one Don’t Go.

But would the New York actress and funnywoman prefer Abby 32 or Abby 32-Elliott as her married name

Celeb Trivia

Danish Writer Hans Christian Andersen is revered as one of his nation’s greatest creative minds.

Born in Copenhagen in 1805 Andersen went on to pen many children’s tales which remain at large in the public consciousness today – among them The Little Mermaid The Ugly Duckling and The Emperor’s New Clothes.

During his lifetime Andersen also managed to incur the wrath of England’s most respected novelist Charles Dickens. The writers met at a society party in 1847 striking up a friendship.

A decade later Andersen stopped by Dickens’ countryside home as the author was going through a messy divorce.

The Dane outstayed his welcome and remained there for five weeks – angering Dickens and effectively ending their friendship. Dickens’ daughter Kate would later refer to him as “a bony bore (who) stayed on and on.”

Web of cynicism

BILL Gates sits down for a chat with talk show host David Letterman in 1995 where he tries to explain all about the emergence of the internet.

But Letterman is far from impressed jokingly dismissing the new technology as redundant because humanity already has radios and tape recorders. Visit www.youtube.com and type ‘Bill Gates Letterman’ into the search box.

“Living in a jungle eating bugs or sitting around – which would you prefer”

“A polystyrene cup with a hole: what’s the point”
