Vietnam's trade surplus to hit USD1.5b in 2014


(MENAFN) According to the Vietnamese Ministry of Industry and Trade, the country's trade surplus is expected to reach USD1.5 billion by year-end, Xinhua reported.

The south-Asian country would pocket around USD150 billion from exports, while spend USD148.5 billion on imports this year, the Saigon Times daily reported.

The ministry's forecast was based on the foreign trade data for the first 11 months of this year, when exports grew 13.7 percent on year to USD137 billion.

Of the total, domestic enterprises accounted for USD44.8 billion, up 13 percent, while foreign- invested firms contributed USD85.4 billion, up 15.1 percent.
