EU unemployment rates edge up in Q3


(MENAFN) EU statistical office (Eurostat) said the number of unemployed people in the eurozone rose by 0.2 percent and by 0.3 percent in the 28-nation EU in the third quarter, Xinhua reported.

Eurostat estimates that an approximate of 226.9 million people were employed in the EU in the third quarter this year, of whom 148.2 million were in the euro zone.

Among member states for which data are available, Greece recorded the highest level of employment growth in the three-month period, up 1.7 percent over the second quarter.
