(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) The iconic actor visited the city as part of his promotional duties for Swiss watch brand Breitling.
John Travolta dropped by The Address Montgomerie Dubai hotel on Monday night in true Hollywood fashion.
The iconic actor – who received Best Actor Oscar nominations for both Saturday Night Fever and Pulp Fiction – visited the city as part of his promotional duties for Swiss watch brand Breitling.
Prior to Travolta’s entrance the company staged a dramatic ‘delivery’ of its new Emergency watch – as a helicopter flew over the assembled crowd onto the golf course. From there a speedboat raced down the adjacent river to collect the package which was then brought to an outdoor stage by motorcycle.
“How was my stunt” joked the 60-year-old Travolta as he walked out onstage after supposedly delivering the package.
The New Jersey native – who has also appeared in films such as Grease Look Who’s Talking and Face/Off – said that this was his first trip to Dubai in 18 months.
“I loved it” he said. “Last time I rode camels saw the largest building in the world saw the sailboat building (the Burj Al Arab) – and who knows what I do tomorrow on my day off”
Travolta spoke at length about the Emergency the world’s first wristwatch with a built-in-personal locator beacon which can alert emergency services of the wearer’s location in life-threatening situations.
“What brought me to Breitling is my passion for aviation” he said. “I love precision and accuracy – most pilots do because it all equals safety at the end of the day.”
When asked about his favourite thing about Dubai Travolta responded “Probably the architecture because that’s right up my alley. My house is an incredible piece of architecture – I live in an airport (in Florida) and I have my jets in the back yard.
“This city is the ultimate in architecture.”
The Emergency is now available at Breitling boutiques and retailers across the UAE.
