UAE- Two people jailed for visa medical test fraud bid

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Dubai: A 31-year-old Guinean salesman identified as M.K. has been sentenced to three months in jail for trying to take the medical fitness test on behalf of his compatriot relative who was suffering from a communicable illness.

The 27-year-old relative was charged with aiding and abetting M.K. by providing him with the necessary documents. He has also been jailed for three months. Both have been ordered by the Court of First Instance to be deported after serving their jail time.

M.K. was accused of using authentic documents in others’ names including a passport an employment visa and an original medical fitness test form. The incident happened at Al Karama medical test centre on August 4.

A sample collector said she discovered the attempted fraud when she verified the photo on the medical fitness test form. “When I told M.K. that he looked different from the photo he got tense and admitted the application was his relative’s and he was to take the test on his behalf as he suffered a communicable illness.”

The Filipina laboratory technician 32 said that M.K. presented a passport an original medical fitness test form and an employment visa which all belonged to his relative. M.K. admitted during investigation that he was to give a blood sample impersonating his relative to help the latter pass the test to renew his residence visa.
