eBay to cut 3.000jobs in 2015

(MENAFN) eBay, the US online retail giant, announced that it would splash thousands of jobs early next year in preparation of its separation from PayPal to become an independent company, Saudi Gazette reported.

The company said that about 3.000 jobs, about 10 percent of its total workforce, could be affected, and that these jobs will probably be in the marketplace division, which includes eBay.com and StubHub.

These cuts come after eBay announced last September that it was separating from PayPal in a bid to help the unit compete better in the fast-moving online payments segment, with the plan expected to take effect next year.

"We are focused on running the business and setting eBay and PayPal up for success as independent companies," An eBay spokeswoman said.
