A 31-year-old Pakistani worker of a hypermarket in Al Jafliya was allegedly caught on CCTV camera groping a 10-year-old Filipina girl while her mother was busy picking up fruits and vegetables. The accused stood trial in the Court of First Instance on Wednesday on the charge of molestation.
The 33-year-old Filipina housewife said that she was in the hypermarket with her daughter and son, 7 on October 13. "I was checking out the stuff that I wanted to buy. My children were standing behind me. Shortly later, my daughter came to me with her face looking pale. She was apparently afraid and confused."
Her daughter told her about a worker who groped her. "She pointed to him. When I asked him about what he did, he said sorry. I was surprised at his reaction and I asked him whether he did anything wrong." The woman's demand to check the surveillance footage in the hypermarket was met. The accused was seen touching the girl.
The hearing has been adjourned to December 24.
