GCC tourists to Turkey up 38 percent in 10M


(MENAFN) The number of GCC nationals visiting Turkey has reached 211.241 people between the January-October period of this year, registering a surge by 39 percent compared to the same period in 2013

During the first ten months of this year, Turkey welcomed 120.632 Kuwaiti nationals, which is an increase by 52 percent compared with the 79.059 which visited during the same period last year, while the UAE came second with 43.469 people visiting the country, followed by 27.002 Qatari tourists.

In addition to the increase in tourists from the GCC, the number of people investing in Turkey has also recorded a surge with GCC investors investing USD1.26 billion in real estate.

"The region currently contributes 5 per cent of Turkey's tourism revenue, with Kuwait as the highest contributor, followed by the UAE. With expanded airline routes, it's never been more convenient for tourists to discover and re-discover the various attractions on offer.
