Dh60 million set aside to aid Syrian refugees


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Ruler's Representative in the Western Region (Al Gharbia) and Chairman of the Emirates Red Crescent, has directed the allocation of Dh60 million for Syrian refugees, with Dh10 million to be distributed every month for six months.

A sum of Dh5 million of the Dh60 million will be allocated to refugees in Jordan and Dh2.5 million to refugees in both Lebanon and Iraq's Kurdistan.

A delegation from the Emirates Red Crescent will oversee the provision of in-kind assistance to the refugees, especially with regard to shelter materials, heaters and winter clothes, blankets and medicines.

Shaikh Hamdan said that these relief activities for the benefit of Syrian refugees come within the framework of the great attention given by the UAE's leadership, including the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan; and His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai; and the support of General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces.
