Royal Oman Police News: Man arrested with 43 fake credit cards


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) An Asian national was recently arrested after attempting to use a fake credit card. ROP's Anti-Economic Crimes Department got a call from a shop employee in Muscat governorate saying that a man had tried paying using a fake credit card.

Investigations led to the arrest of the 29 year old accused from a hotel in the capital with 43 such cards in his possession.

It was found that the accused had paid for the room using a fake card. He has been referred to the Public Prosecution.

359 infiltrators arrested in Oman

The ROP in collaboration with other military and security departments during November arrested 359 infiltrators of different nationalities from a number of wilayats. The ROP also deported 769 infiltrators after taking the necessary legal action in coordination with their respective embassies.

Drug smuggling bids foiled in Oman

Customs officials have foiled a bid to smuggle a large quantity of psychotropic drugs into the country. A citizen and his female partner who were arriving from a European country were arrested with 10154 psychotropic drug tablets.

In another case an Asian was held while attempting to smuggle in 243 Clonazepam tablets a prescription drug often abused by addicts. A citizen was also arrested with 16 packets of Methadone and 37 Clonazepam tablets.
