Kuwaiti diplomats participated in more than 300 UN sessions


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Kuwaiti diplomats have taken part in more than 300 meetings, recently held within framework of the United Nations General Assembly's 69th session, the State of Kuwait Permanent Delegate at the UN said.

Ambassador Mansour Ayyad Al-Otaibi, speaking to KUNA after he held a reception for the diplomats, honoring them for the effective participation in the UNGA's meetings and works, said the diplomats had been distributed among several committees, addressed a series of statements on behalf of the State of Kuwait at the international sessions and took part in more than 30 meetings.

A number of the Kuwaiti diplomats had also taken part in UN Security Council's sessions, Ambassador Al-Otaibi said, praising their good performance at these international meetings.

The chief Kuwaiti envoy distributed certifications of appreciation to the diplomats during the gathering.

Kuwait's Ministry of Foreign Affairs annually dispatches 10-15 diplomats to the UN headquarters to take part in such meetings. They practically undergo training and back up members of the permanent mission during the chain of sessions that regularly begins in early September and proceeds till middle of December.

Ambassador Al-Otaibi said the latest batch comprised 15 diplomats. They had visited, during their presence in America, the US National Defense University and the State Department.
