Famous Arab singers to grace Sharjah music festival


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  The Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq) announced that the festival will run from January 16 to 25.

Shurooq announced that renowned Iraqi singer Kadim Al Sahir, Syrian singer Lina Shamamian, and Lebanese artist Omaima Khalil will be performing in Sharjah for the first time in shows that will be held at five venues across the emirate. The venues are: Al Majaz Amphitheatre, Al Majaz Waterfront, Al Qasba, Heart of Sharjah, and Flag Island.

Countries participating in the festival other than UAE are Egypt, England, France, India, Iraq, Italy, Jordan, Lebanon, Moldavia, Oman, Spain, and Syria. The participants will present a variety of vocal and musical performances.

Fatima Al Shweihi, Sharjah World Music Festival coordinator at Shurooq, said: "The first edition of Sharjah World Music Festival that was hosted in Al Qasba last January was a resounding success, thanks to the participation of award winning musicians from across the world and the huge response from the audience. With the second edition of the festival next month, we are looking forward to boosting the presence of Sharjah on the regional, cultural and artistic map ... by hosting a number of renowned Arab and foreign artists and bands."

Furat Qaddouri, founder of Furat Qaddouri Music Centre, said: "By co-organising the region's ... one-of-its-kind musical festival in collaboration with Shurooq, we have been eager to attract high-profile vocalists. We are proud to host three of the most famous Arab artists who will make their debut in the Emirate of Sharjah."
