UAE set for GCC Womens Twenty20

Dubai — UAE women’s team will participate in the inaugural GCC Women’s Twenty20 Championship to be held in Muscat Oman from December 15 to December 19 a Press release said. Kuwait Qatar Oman and UAE will compete for the trophy where each team will play four games. The UAE team is led by Charvi Bhatt with Chairtrali Kalgutkar as her deputy.



A coaching camp was conducted at Sharjah Cricket stadium where 40 shotlisted girls were given extensive training. Mohammed Redha Abbas chief selector and member Emirates Cricket Board said: “Interest in women’s cricket has gone up and I’m glad to see the enthusiasm.”

As part of the Asian Cricket Council’s development programme in the region the GCC Women’s Twenty20 championship will be played on a yearly basis among the Gulf countries.
