Expo 2020 leadership reviews 2015 goals


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee Chairman, President of the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman and Chief Executive of Emirates airline and Group, on Monday chaired the official year-end meeting of the Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee. The meeting focused on the 2014 progress-to-date against 2015 preparatory plans to deliver the 2020 World Expo. The meeting was held in the presence of its vice-chairman, Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, Director-General of the Ruler's Court, and other Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee members, to prioritise key 2015 objectives, strategies and benchmarks.

During the session, Reem Ibrahim Al Hashimi, the UAE's Minister of State; director general - Bureau Dubai Expo 2020 and board representative of the Dubai Expo 2020 Higher Committee presented the forward looking strategy for the mega event to the committee. Key updates included its presence at Milan Expo 2015, participant and domestic audience engagement programme development, as well as progression plans for the Registration Phase, a key requisite delivery set forth by the Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) - the World Expo Governing Body.

"As we ready to welcome the New Year, we also welcome with it significantly increased activation and engagement programmes across multiple facets. In 2015, we plan to drive a more visible and holistic presence for Expo 2020 Dubai, both locally and internationally, that will continue to catalyse community involvement with and support for this iconic event," said Al Hashimi. Major General Khamis Mattar Al Mazeina, Expo 2020 Dubai Higher Committee member and Chief Commander of Dubai Police, also presented plans for ensuring the safe and secure management around Expo 2020 Dubai, and strategies to ensure all best-in-class international standards are considered.The Expo 2020 Dubai Bureau recently outlined its key deliverables to the 168 member states of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) in Paris, including key work-streams focussed around the theme, subthemes, youth, volunteers and community engagement expected to launch in 2015.
