Oman registers 0.95% inflation in November


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) Oman's annual inflation rate stood at 0.95 per cent in November. On a month-on-month basis the rate up 0.1 per cent according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI).

According to a recent NCSI report food and non-alcoholic beverage prices rose by 1.2 per cent on an annual basis while the housing water electricity and gas and other fuels segment prices were up by 0.32 per cent. In addition furnishing household equipment & routine household maintenance jumped up 6.23 per cent.

Over the same period education costs recorded an increase of 4.51 per cent while health costs rose by 4.96 per cent and communications costs by five per cent. In addition hotel and restaurant costs increased by 0.66 per cent while tobacco prices posted an 1.72 per cent uptick.

Miscellaneous goods and services recorded a marginal increase of 0.16 per cent. On the other hand recreation and culture prices declined by 0.02 per cent while transport costs dropped by 0.23 per cent. Clothing and footwear costs declined by 0.96 per cent.      

NCSI attributed the 0.1 per cent month-on-month increase to the food and non-alcoholic beverages segment which rose by 0.36 per cent. Prices for housing water electricity gas and other fuels inched up  0.03 per cent. In addition and tobacco prices were up 0.7 per cent transports costs by 0.06 per cent and hotels and restaurants costs by 0.03 per cent.

On the other hand health costs declined by 0.04 per cent while communication costs dropped 0.02 per cent. Recreation and culture prices declined 0.03 per cent  and miscellaneous goods and services lost 0.06 per cent. The cost of clothing and footwear furnishings household equipment & routine household maintenance and education remained stable on a month-month basis in November.
