UAE- Mall murder suspect has no terror links: Official

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times) Investigation revealed that she logged onto the websites of terror organisations where she learnt how to manufacture explosives.

The female suspect arrested in connection with the murder of an American schoolteacher in a mall in Abu Dhabi last week acted on her own and had no links with terror organisations or political parties an official security source has said.

“The interrogation of the suspect and investigation into the case revealed that she logged onto the websites of terror organisations where she learnt how to manufacture explosives” the source said.

The source said the accused was looking to target people based solely on their skin colour. “She was not looking to target Americans specifically.”

On December 1 after allegedly stabbing the school teacher to death in the washroom of a mall on Reem Island the accused planted a crude bomb outside the house of an Egyptian-American doctor which was defused by the police. She was arrested within 48 hours of the crime being committed.

Meanwhile a candlelight vigil was held for the 47-year-old Romanian-born victim Ibolya Ryan on Sunday evening at Kite Surf Beach in Jumeirah in Dubai.
