The social media was abuzz with congratulatory messages for the Abu Dhabi Police after a woman was held in connection with the murder of an American schoolteacher in the washroom of a mall last week.
Netizens said the prompt action by the police made them feel safe and reinforced their belief that the UAE is one of the safest countries to live in.
While announcing the arrest of the suspect on Thursday Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior had issued a stern warning to those who “tried to disrupt the security and stability of the country”.
After allegedly stabbing the schoolteacher to death in the mall on Reem Island the 38-year-old Emirati female suspect planted a crude bomb outside the house of an Egyptian-American doctor in Corniche area which was diffused by the police. I am so happy my children are settled in the UAE. This is what separates the UAE from the rest of the countries. Crime rate here is very low and criminals are brought to justice at once. Even developed countries like (the) US take months to deliver justice and their own policemen sometimes turn the gun on harmless civilians just because they are black. Try doing that in the UAE. People from all parts of the world live and work here and the police and government are like elder brothers always watching over us and protecting us.
