Bid to smuggle 38kg of heroin foiled- PSD

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  Officers from the Anti-Narcotics Department foiled an attempt to smuggle 38 kilograms of heroin into a neighboring country on Sunday, the Public Security Department (PSD) said in a statement.
The PSD media centre reported that anti-narcotics teams increased their vigilance after receiving information about a number of people preparing "a huge amount" of narcotics to be smuggled into a nearby country.
The PSD personnel then determined the method and time of the planned smuggling so that they might confiscate the narcotics and arrest the traffickers.
The statement added that the hour for transporting the heroin was synchronized by installing inspection barriers from a northern governorate and heading towards the capital Amman.
The vehicle carrying the smugglers was forced to stop and two persons were arrested. While searching the vehicle, 38 kilograms of heroin were seized.
The smugglers were referred to the state security court's attorney general.
