Qatar- 90,000 new cars sold this year

(MENAFN- The Peninsula)  About 90,000 new cars have been sold in Qatar this year and the sales are expected to reach 100,000 next year, say industry sources. This is considered the highest sale ever witnessed by the local market.

Quoting industry experts, Al Sharq reported that stiff competition among car dealers has helped stabilise prices.

"This year sales have reached 90,000 for different models including passenger cars and commercial vehicles. This figure is expected to reach 100,000 in 2015," the daily said quoting a senior official of Al Fardan Automobiles.

He said according to current estimates, sales are steady and the market has not seen significant fluctuations. This is making the Qatari market unique, he added.

Competition among car dealers has created a balance in prices and there was no major increase, said the official.

With prices under control, the competition now is in after sales service and providing fast and better maintenance and repair. Car dealers are trying to keep customers without losing thin profits, he said. Official of another leading company said that many factors have helped stabilise prices like competition among dealers and quality of the services. He added that four-wheel drive cars comprise half the market share despite their high prices, followed by luxury and sports cars.
