Qatar attends climate change meet


(MENAFN- The Peninsula)   Qatar is participating in the 20th conference of the parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP20) underway in the city of Lima, capital of Peru.

Events include a meeting of the ad-hoc working group on the Durban Platform for Enhanced Action in addition to annual sessions of the technical organs of the convention on climate change, the subsidiary body for implementation and the subsidiary body for scientific and technological advice which discusses issues and decisions forwarded by the conference.

Qatar's delegation comprises representatives of the Ministry of Environment, the Foreign Ministry and the Ministry of Economy and Commerce, as well as Civil Aviation Authority, Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation -Kahramaa - and Qatar Fuel Additives Company.

Qatar has hosted the 18th United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP18), which was one of the most successful conferences and a milestone in the country's history in hosting such international events.
