(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) A team from the Al Mazyona police station in Dhofar arrested a Gulf national with a large cache of arms that included 105 traditional rifles a Kalashnikov and 20 boxes of ammunition.
On receiving information about the consignment the team created a picket but had to chase the man who was in a large vehicle when he did not stop.

Three held for kidnapping looting
Three accused in a case of kidnapping and looting in Sohar have been arrested. Two of them are Omanis while the third is an Asian national. They were arrested after an Asian resident in a police complaint accused them of robbing him of his wallet one night and trying hold him hostage for a ransom. He alleged that he was kept at a construction site from where he managed to escape and later filed a police complaint.

Man arrested for arson in Barka
Sleuths from the Directorate General of Inquiries and Criminal Investigation in South Batinah with the Department Investigation at Barka police station have recently arrested a person accused of arson last year in wilayat's Garhat al Baloch village.
An official said that the accused had set two vehicles on fire and has admitted to committing the crime in an inebriated state. He also confessed to have stolen air conditioners and gas cylinders from Somhan and Sor al Baloch areas in Barka. The official said that Article 270 of the Omani Penal Code states that anyone who sets fire to public or private facilities land sea or air transport means oil fields or facilities or inhabited or uninhabited either owned by him or not or who deliberately sets fire to any thing in the proximity of the said places so as fire can easily extend thereto shall be sentenced to seven to 15 years in jail.
