Health Ministers from 8 Countries to Discuss Ebola in Tokyo


(MENAFN- QNA) Health ministers from 8 countries will meet in Tokyo next week to discuss responses to the Ebola epidemic.

The meeting of the Global Health Security Initiative, which consists of the Group of 7 nations and Mexico, is scheduled for next Thursday, Japan's (NHK World) reported.

Representatives of the World Health Organization will deliver a report with the latest information on the Ebola epidemic in West Africa.

The ministers will then share their countries' responses and explore how they can cooperate.

Japan's health minister Yasuhisa Shiozaki is expected to explain the efforts being undertaken by the Japanese government.

These include boosting quarantines and other preventative measures, as well as the handling of suspected Ebola patients by medical facilities.

Shiozaki will also stress the importance of international cooperation in preventing further spread of the disease. He will call for more support in dispatching doctors to West Africa and setting up hospitals in the region.
