Startup watch recalls classic designs with their 6th model release.
Radnor PA — With only two years in business startup micro
and Lew & Huey hasn’t shown signs of slowing down now promoting its sixth model a racing-themed watch with a wild style named the “Legends Racer” on Kickstarter.com. Leveraging the popular online crowdfunding site to support each new model the Radnor-based business is carving out a niche and building an international following with its original timepieces.
“Watch buyers are tired of being served the same old thing and getting overcharged for it” says company founder Chris Vail “People are connecting with the brand because our watches are different a little edgy and a good value. Our customers like that we’re not just copying other companies’ designs. They like that we’re challenging the establishment.”
Each of Lew & Huey’s models is designed by Vail and built to his specifications. Produced in low volumes the watches are earning a reputation among enthusiasts for their sporty styles that blend classic styling with vibrant colors and textures. The Legends is no exception.
“The Legends takes inspiration from the Tag Heuer Monaco and Tudor Heritage chronograph both racing themed watches costing thousands of dollars. The Legends is nicely spec’d out but available for $350 on Kickstarter.”
“Lew & Huey” is a phonetic take on a Chinese Mandarin phrase “luen huey” meaning reincarnation or rebirth. Vail thought the name was a good fit for the brand’s “never say die” attitude.
With 12000 followers on social media the story seems to be catching on globally. Lew & Huey watches have found their way into more than 52 countries on five continents. What’s next for Vail and his upstart watch company? “We’ve got some ideas we’re developing for next year. Our main focus is on continuing to deliver what so many people responded to in the first place – the style the value the attitude.”
Lew & Huey was founded in 2012 in Radnor PA by Chris Vail a Philadelphia native and US Army veteran.
