Qatar Airways to receive first A350 XWB on Dec 13


(MENAFN- The Peninsula)  Qatar Airways (QA) and Airbus yesterday announced that the first of 80 Airbus A350 XWB aircraft ordered will be delivered on December 13. The new, extra wide-body airliner will be delivered to QA, the global launch customer, in Toulouse, France.

The highly fuel-efficient and environmentally-friendly aircraft will be deployed on the Frankfurt route. The commercial service is likely to begin in January after completing formalities and training of ground staff and crew.

The A350 XWB is a family of mid-sized wide-body aircraft to enhance fuel, operating cost and environmental efficiencies during medium to long haul operations and features latest aerodynamics, designs and technologies.

Akbar Al Baker, Group Chief Executive, QA, said: "The delivery of our first A350 XWB is a highly anticipated event in the relatively young history of QA and the second significant fleet milestone, having recently taken delivery of A380 aircraft.
