04 December 2014: A new report has found that people on the roads of the UK are more likely to resort to aggression in the event of driving-related issues than anywhere else in the world according to AutoExpress.
Of the 20 countries covered by the study the UK came out ahead of the competition sitting above France in second place to earn the title of the global capital of road rage.
Perhaps by perusing the used cars Northumberland dealerships have for offer drivers could cocoon themselves in a more pleasant and relaxing vehicle when they hit the road. Or maybe more drastic measures need to be taken to cool tempers on the tarmac.
Some 76 per cent of the British respondents to the study said that they have resorted to aggressive gestures while driving or indeed been subjected to them from fellow road users. A similar proportion admitted that they had even deliberately blocked the road in order to have an argument or exchange insults.
At the other end of the scale was Luxembourg where just a fifth of those questioned said that they had experience any kind of verbal aggression when behind the wheel; the lowest of any country in Europe.
Report spokesperson Matt Dyer said that it was not just the in-car experience that affects how drivers behave pointing out that the UK has some serious problems with its road network which need to be addressed in order to reduce driver frustration and cut down on the amount of road rage that is experienced.
Things like congestion are likely to put people in a bad mood and increase the chances of incidents like this occurring so it is perhaps down to the government and local authorities to try and ease tensions with better a designed transport infrastructure.
