S. Korea's sales of smart devices decline in 2014


(MENAFN) South Korea's domestic sales of smart devices is expected to decrease 23.8 percent annually in 2014 to reach USD15 billion, as a result of the government's harsh crackdown on "subsides" giving to users changing mobile carriers, Yonhap News reported.

The total value of the country's domestic sales of smart devices is 23.95million units in 2014, down 15.5 percent from last year, data compiled by ICD Corp. showed.

The local sales of smartphones are projected to decline 29.2 percent annually to reach USD11.06 billion in 2014, with the volume also to decrease 29.2 percent to reach USD17.72 billion.

ICD confirmed that the drop of domestic smart devices sales to the market's saturation, coupled with business suspensions imposed on local mobile carriers throughout this year.
