Emir of Kuwait, Senate President discuss ties, region


(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  The Emir of Kuwait, Sheikh Sabah Ahmed Jabber Sabah, today met with Senate President Abdel Raou'f Rawabdeh at Bayan Palace in Kuwait city.

The Emir voiced his hope to promote the bilateral cooperation between his country and Jordan in the interest of the Arab nation, adding that "all of us are victims of terrorism and no one can be safe from its consequences.

Rawabdeh conveyed his Majesty King Abdullah II's greetings to the Kuwaiti leader, stressing Jordan's appreciation of Kuwait for its support in various fields, informing Sheikh Sabah that ''we in Jordan consider you as the voice of the Arab conscience, working hard at all levels to remove differences and disputes in order to build a unified Arab system.''

During the meeting, the dimensions of the Syrian crisis and the burdens that Jordan has been bearing because of the influx of hundreds of thousands of Syrian refugees were discussed. The aid by the international community covers only 30 percent of the needs of the refugees.

The Kuwaiti Prime Minister, Sheikh Jabber Mubarak Hamad Sabah, during the meeting with Rawabdeh, said Jordan has been bearing the brunt of the crisis on behalf of the entire Arab nation, stressing the importance of the visit to explain Jordan's hard economic conditions.

Rawabdeh and his accompanying delegation attended part of the Kuwaiti Parliament session, where the head of the council, Marzouq Al-Ghanim, welcomed the visit that was aimed at increasing the cooperation between the two sides.
