Senate President thanks Kuwait for its support

(MENAFN- Jordan News Agency)  The Senate President, Abdel Raouf Rawabdeh, on Wednesday thanked Kuwait for the support it provides to Jordan to help it address its economic hardships and grapple with the repercussions of the Syrian crisis in the Kingdom.

Speaking to Petra, Rawabdeh said, "We have seen a total understanding on the part of Kuwait about what Jordan is experiencing and we've made clear the extent of economic crisis and shortage that the Kingdom faces in the water, energy and other sectors, and our efforts to receive our brothers, the Syrian refugees." The Senate President, who is on an official visit to Kuwait, added, "We in Jordan are in the eye of the storm. The amount we spent in hosting an increasing number of Syrian refugees is draining the country's infrastructure while the international aid is only covering 30 percent of these expenses. Jordan seriously needs all the concerned parties to stand by it as we live in a region packed with takfiri ideology and terrorism that threatens us all." The Head of the Jordanian-Kuwaiti Parliamentary Friendship Committee, MP Hamad Al Harshani, said that Jordan and Kuwait share the same fate and stand by each other, pointing to the importance of the visit in terms of coordinating in all fields, especially in the light of the circumstances facing the region and the Arab nation.

Answering a question about the role of the Kuwaiti parliament in supporting Jordan to shoulder the influx of Syrian refugees, Al Harshani stressed that Kuwait's stance is known to everyone, as it had hosted the first and second donors' conference to help the Syrian refugees.
