Saudi- Lifebuoy tallies double in Globe Cup
(MENAFN- Arab News) Lifebuoy won a thrilling battle for Team of the Week honors with Habagat during the ninth session in the Thursday League 12th Conference for Globe Cup at the Bowling City in Sultanah Center here.
Lifebuoy won by the slimmest of margins 28.5 to 28 points though the victory in the end turned out sweeter thanks to Alex Flora who clinched the Bowler of the Week award for a Lifebuoy double when he shot the high series of 691 on lines of 192 245 and 242.
Al Kabeer Frozen Foods continued to knock on league-leading D' Barkads door by coming up with the third-best total for the session of 24 points with Al Murjana on 11 and D' Barkads 20.
Alliance in Motion Global compiled 19.5 points in sixth place on the night while Advance Co. had 17 followed by tailenders Bulacan Knight 12 and Jeddah 5KKB.
After ending the first game tied for fifth and sixth places with Alliance on 4.5 points Lifebuoy rallied strongly to go second-second-second in the last two games and overall output while Habagat hurt its own chance by a disappointing last-place finish in the third game though it won the second game and overall output.
The trio of Bash Langa Tom Langa and Simon Ang provided Flora a good backup with respective rounds of 594 564 and 551. Jim Mandingiado added 169-170 and Edwin Ronquillo made 202.
Habagat drew 600-series rounds of 654and 613 from Richard Antonio and Med Ramos to go with the 546 by Edris Mangoda 242-182 by Rommel Cacampang 178-179 by Edu Toledo and 192-175 by Geo Mangaliman.
The previous week honoree Al Kabeer enjoyed another solid outing to be just six points adrift of D' Barkads as Jowett Carrion hit the night's second-best score of 666 with Mohd. Al Amari on 581. Skipper Igna Salgado contributed 237-166 Paolo Allego had 174-181 and Gerry Mandanas 163-210.
Alliance used a five-man rotation to good effect with Nanding Siasoco on 636 Cris Villavelez 606 Frank Afurong 569 Sami Al Qarni 538 and Archie Santos 514.
Advance Co. likewise counted scores of a single set of five players toward it total: Pancho Cuevas 605 Sham Mustafa 580 Rene Punzalan 574 Richard Junio 551 and Dylan Ilagan 512.
