OIC Welcomes French Parliament Vote for Recognition of Palestinian State


(MENAFN- QNA) The Secretary General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), Iyad Ameen Madani has expressed his appreciation for the French Parliament resolution to recognize the state of Palestine, indicating that this significant move is consistent with the international will and resolutions of international legitimacy in order to end the Israeli occupation and support the legitimate national rights of the Palestinian people including the sovereignty in their independent State of Palestine according to the borders of 4th June 1976, with Al Quds Al Sharif as its capital.

The OIC Chief expressed hope that the French government would take the initiative of recognizing the state of Palestine, emphasizing that this would contribute to enhancing international efforts to achieve peace and stability in the region. He called upon the rest of the world in favor of the two-state solution to support the draft resolution for ending the Israeli occupation to be presented to the UN Security Council, and to take the initiative of recognition of the state of Palestine in a manner consistent with the UN General Assembly Resolution issued on 29th November 2012.
