75 Omanis attend NBC Oasis500 Boot Camp, top three awarded


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The National Business Centre (NBC) Oasis500 BootCamp which saw the participation of 75 Omani entrepreneurs concluded recently with the announcement of three winners. The winners are Nabila al Amri Khaled al Rawahi and Moza al Khroosi. Each winner was given an iPad stated a press release.

They were judged on the basis of their overall participation in the camp and their creativity in a programme organised on the camp's last day. As part of this programme the attendees were asked to pitch their ideas based on skills gained at the workshop.

Each idea was judged based on its innovation creativity and its viability as a successful business venture. Apart from these activities participants at the workshop underwent training in the fields of investments entrepreneurship and ICT. 

The workshop gave the entrepreneurs tips on starting a business by drawing upon Oasis500 and NBC's strength in entrepreneurship and in building knowledge networks.

Mulkie al Hashmi director of marketing at NBC said 'Workshops that foster and facilitate the growth of the SME sector in Oman such as the NBC Oasis500 BootCamp are vital. This is because SMEs play a critical role as the engine of growth in the economy with the potential of providing employment to thousands of people while contributing significantly to the growth of the economy. The boot camp was a resounding success and I sincerely hope each of the attendees take the knowledge they have gained over the past five days and mould them into successful businesses in the near future.'

However adequate availability of capital for innovation and high growth was identified as a key requirement of all SMEs to succeed in the country. Therefore it is vital that they be provided with the tools and methods to test the feasibility of their ideas before going live.
