American lady teacher murdered in Abu Dhabi mall washroom


(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the suspect , who stabbed the 37-year-old woman after an altercation in the washroom of the shopping mall.

A 37-year-old American woman was allegedly stabbed to death following an altercation inside the washroom of a shopping mall on Al Reem Island in Abu Dhabi on Monday afternoon.

The woman was rushed to the Shaikh Khalifa Medical City Hospital in a critical condition, where she succumbed to her injuries.

The police have launched a manhunt to arrest the accused, whose gender has not been determined yet. According to witnesses, the accused was wearing an abaya (traditional Arabic cloak), a veil and black gloves.

Colonel Dr Rashid Mohammed Burasheed, Director of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) at the Abu Dhabi Police, said the deceased was a school teacher. The police have recovered the "sharp tool" used in the commission of the crime, he said.

The accused managed to flee the spot after committing the crime.

The deceased, who was a divorcee, is survived by her twin children aged 11, who are being looked after by the Community Police, Burasheed said. Her former husband has been informed about the murder and the two children will be handed over to him as soon as he arrives in the country.
