Patriotic zeal grips UAE schools, universities

(MENAFN- Khaleej Times)  It has been a festive week for schools and universities across the country as thousands of students came together for the UAE National Day celebrations.

From creating new world records to staging tribute acts, a display of patriotic fervour set the mood for festivities across educational institutions.

At the Al Ain English Speaking School, students came dressed in Kandooras and Abayas - with many even donning the national colours. Mini flags and pictures of the country's leaders reflected a festive mood inside the school.

In Dubai, among the many schools celebrating the spirit of the union was Crescent English High School that began with the flag hoisting ceremony by Dubai Police officers, followed by a parade comprising more than 750 students and 100 school staff wearing traditional Arabic dresses and holding a 15 metre UAE flag.

At The Kindergarten Starters School, more than 4,000 students formed a human flag on Monday morning as part of a schoolwide celebration.

In Ajman, Shaikh Ammar bin Humaid Al Nuaimi, Crown Prince of Ajman, set-off celebrations at the Ajman University of Science and Technology. The day started by signing a letter of loyalty to the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Students from the university also released 43 large balloons in hues of red, black, white and green. Following a parade, a 43-kilometre marathon commemorated the spirit of the union.
