Lufthansa pilots stage 10th strike this year


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Pilots of the German airlines, Lufthansa, began a 36-hour strike Monday due to unsettled disputes over pension payment arrangements, scrapping 1,350 flights.

The strike, the 10th this year, cancelled half of today's flights, the Frankfurt-based company said in a statement.

The strike, launched due to unsettled disputes over transitional pension arrangements for about 5,400 pilots, began at noon today and would continue until midnight tomorrow.

Pilots of Europe's largets airliner are allowed to retire at the age of 55 and get up to 60 percent of their pay until reaching statutory retirement age of 65.
