Kuwait- ANOC Chief honored by FINA


(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) The international governing body of swimming (FINA) granted on Monday the President of the Association of National Olympic Committees (ANOC) Sheikh Ahmad Fahad Al-Sabah the highest honorary shield for his support to swimming sport around the world.

Sheikh Ahmad, who is also the President of the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), told KUNA after the 3rd annual FINA ceremony, that he was honored to receive this award from FINA and thank them for honoring the association.

Sheikh Ahmad also thanked FINA President DR. Julio C Maglione and FINA board members for this recognition, wishing them the best.

ANOC chief added that this ceremony shows how excellent relationship
between international federations and Olympic committees.

Sheikh Ahmad also thanked the State of Qatar represented by the Qatari Olympic Committee General Secretary Sheikh Saud Bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani for the warm hospitality and patronage of Qatari Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.

Sheikh Ahmad expressed pleasure for being present in Doha, the sport capital of the region.

OCA chief expressed best wishes to the swimming sport family and to all
athletes who won prizes in this ceremony.

The ceremony was attended by representatives of 206 countries and a large number of swimming sport figures from around the world.
