Oman extends visa ban for another six months on host of professions


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) The Ministry of Manpower (MoM) has extended by another six months its decision to not issue fresh visas for sales and marketing professionals construction workers cleaners and camel keepers in the private sector.

The first six-month ban on fresh visas for construction workers and cleaners came into effect in November 2013 while restrictions on sales and marketing professionals and camel keepers took effect on December 1 2013.

These restrictions were then extended by another six months earlier this year.

The latest decision comes into effect from November 25  for construction workers and cleaners and from December 1 for other categories.

The Ministerial Decision 338/2014 concerning construction workers and cleaners states that there would be exceptions to the recruitment ban for companies rated as excellent first grade and consultancies as well as firms working on government projects companies that are managed full-time by owners and registered with the

Public Authority for Development of Small and Medium Enterprises and insured with the Public Authority for Social Insurance.

The same clause relating to company ratings consultancies and government projects also applies to sales and marketing visas. In all the cases MoM allows issuance of replacement visas.
