New centre for training Omanis in water and power sectors opens


(MENAFN- Muscat Daily) To provide tailor-made training solutions for the electricity and water sectors in Oman the Electricity Holding (EHC) Group of Companies and Veolia opened a Utilities Center for Competence Development (UCCD) on Monday.

The centre will promote career opportunities for citizens attract talent develop their potential and anticipate future business needs for a sustainable Omanisation in the sectors.

The opening ceremony of the centre was chaired by Mohammed bin Abdullah al Mahrouqi chairman Public Authority for Electricity and Water and EHC Patrice Fonlladosa president and CEO of Veolia Africa Middle East Xavier Joseph CEO Veolia Gulf Countries and Eng Omar bin Khalfan al Wahaibi CEO EH Group and chairman of UCCD. In his speech Eng Wahaibi highlighted the relevance of the centre.

'UCCD will equip and inspire Omani companies to practice the highest standards in the profession develop their capacities in water and energy and encourage talented Omanis to realise their full potential.'

Fonlladosa said 'As a joint venture between EHC group and Veolia UCCD benefits from Veolia's 160 year of experience and network. Being part of UCCD reaffirms our willingness to contribute to local development and resources as part of our corporate social responsibility.' As many as 80 guests attended the opening ceremony which also included H E Roland Dubertrand Ambassador of France to Oman.
